Thoughts on Christmas

Both Joseph and Mary were chosen by God to raise His Son. It was not a mother only home. Christ had His Father, God and His step-father, Joseph. Joseph and Mary were both obedient to God and followed His commands in their lives. Remember, their lives as well as the life of Christ were in danger from Herod. Joseph was responsible to follow God’s instructions for their safety.

As we come toward Christmas I would like us to think of someone who is often forgotten. Christmas is all about the birth of Christ. Some churches have made Mary almost if not more important. The one who is forgotten is.....Joseph. We forget that Joseph was an honorable and godly man. He, as well as Mary obeyed God's commands. While Mary was seen as an unwed mother Joseph had stigma by marrying her. Mary suffered the hardships of the trip while pregnant Joseph was responsible to God and her for her safety and well being. As head of the house Joseph was also responsible for raising Jesus. Jesus i the Son of God, not Joseph, but Joseph had a large part in his life.  Let us worship the Son of God, Jesus the Christ, this CHRISTmas and honor both Mary and Joseph.
