Observation about the media and Christianity

I have been observing the shows, commercials, etc. that are on, or coming on, TV, games and other entertainment media. It is astounding and irksome to me the great amount of subtle attacks on Christianity. We look at the DaVinci code and get upset bout it but miss many other less apparent attacks. One that comes immediately to mind is the Capitol One commercial with the bumbling, slightly disheveled "guardian angel" they use. While I know many will say it is just humor with no disrespect intended I must disagree. One of the best ways to attack a belief, philosophy, idea is to poke fun at it. Poking fun cause people to dismiss the belief, philosophy or idea without giving serious thought to it. If we apply critical thinking methodology to the commercial we can see the implied argument is God does not have the power to protect as well as Capitol One. This is an attack against God and belief in God.

If we look around us we can see this in happening many times. There was a TV show, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, that presents whitchcraft as acceptable, even good. Here we have something the Bible says is absolutely wrong being presented as good. The implication is, again, that the Word of God is wrong and the things we are warned against are good.

These are but two examples of what is happening generally in the entertainment media. As Ecclesiastes notes "There is no new thing under the sun. That which is now has already been and God will call the past to account." (Ecc 3:15) The difference between the past and now is we have the capability to spread messages to the world generally much more quickly than in the past.

I am aware that many will say I am taking this too far. Perhaps I am not taking it far enough. Christians and others must start to recognize what is happening around us and the ungodliness we accept because we have grown used to it.
